Petrol vapour recovery proposed
The Commission has proposed legislation to ensure that harmful petrol vapour which escapes when drivers full up cars at service stations is captured and recycled.
Petrol vapour contains benzene, which is known to cause cancer, and contributes to the formation of ground-level ozone. The proposed directive will require petrol vapour recovery technologies to be fitted to petrol pumps at most filling stations
