EU needs standards for quieter roads
Friday, March 02, 2007
T&E is urging the EU to produce a harmonised standard for quiet road surfaces, a first step towards more widespread introduction of the technology.
High noise levels are damaging the health of around a third of the population of the EU. It is widely recognised that road noise is a major contributor to overall noise levels, and therefore impacts on health. Given increasing traffic levels throughout Europe, and despite technological advances, roads are getting louder.
