The Commission’s ETS proposal is pragmatic and shows a willingness to improve the ETS for transport.
The proposal’s strengths should be protected, including extensions of scope and support for new technologies in both aviation and shipping that represent an industrial opportunity for the EU.
Key improvements remain, including support for eSAF and SMAP, contrails incentives and transhipment derogations.
