Ahead of negotiations to finalise the EU’s Critical Raw Materials Act, 15 NGOs have written to EU lawmakers to stress the critical importance of certification schemes. Europe must require certification schemes to have multi-stakeholder governance, which is why the EU Parliament’s position must be defended in negotiations. Also, under no circumstance should participation in certification schemes be considered as a substitute for due diligence.
