NGOs in Denmark are expressing concern at the expansion of a Danish trial of mega-trucks, the 60-tonne lorries currently banned under EU law.
[mailchimp_signup][/mailchimp_signup]The NGOs, which include the car drivers’ association FDM, are worried about safety as much as environmental implications; a preliminary evaluation said safety was affected by the fact that roundabouts are being adapted or removed completely to allow the mega-trucks to pass, which leads to an increase in overall speed. The trial has been expanded before the results of a full evaluation have been made public, or a public hearing has been held.
