EU must ensure that long-haul flights are included in its sustainable aviation fuel mandate
In this letter, a group of airlines, fuel producers, planemakers and NGOs call on the European Commission to ensure that long-haul flights are included in the EU’s sustainable fuels mandate.
The signatories ask that the obligation of the mandate be placed on the fuel supplier, to ensure equal treatment. They also say that advanced biofuels allowed under the mandate must be sustainable, and should exclude biofuels from dedicated cropland. The letter is signed by T&E and Natuur & Milieu; airlines Easyjet, Ryanair, Wizz Air, Jet2, Loganair; fuel producer SkyNRG; and planemakers Pipistrel and Wright Electric.
