Researchers on the EU’s ‘Smart SPP’ programme have developed an assessment tool aimed at making it easier for public officials to calculate the real cost of a vehicle or transport service over its full lifetime.
[mailchimp_signup][/mailchimp_signup]More than 100 public officials in Germany and Great Britain, who have responsibility for buying important products and services, have been trained to use the new ‘Lifecycle Costs and Carbon Dioxide Emissions’ assessment tool. The tool, which can also work out how much a product can contribute to municipal climate change strategies, can also be used for products that are not yet widely available on the market. Details are available in five languages at https://www.smart-spp.eu/guidance.
