Poland to join lorry km charge club
Poland is set to join the club of EU member states that have introduced a distance-based charge for lorries. An electronic charge applicable to all vehicles above 3.5 tonnes (including buses) using national roads is due to come into effect on 1 July 2011, but the price per kilometre has not yet been agreed.

There have been several statements by the Hungarian transport ministry that the government is committed to introducing a kilometre charge for lorries ‘as soon as possible’ but no timetable has yet been given. And an agreement has been reached between the three regional transport ministers in Belgium to finalise a proposal for kilometre charging for lorries and a vignette for cars to come into effect in 2012 or 2013. Belgium had originally tied its plans to the Dutch scheme which was cancelled by the new government.
