  • Hungary lorry charge

Environmental groups in Hungary fear a surge of lorries on country roads after the Hungarian government agreed a toll for trucks that is limited to motorways and a few main roads. The toll will be a distance- and pollution-based charge coming into effect in July 2013.

[mailchimp_signup][/mailchimp_signup]The Hungarian Clean Air Action Group, a T&E member, says limiting the charge to motorways and major roads will divert large amounts of heavy vehicles to secondary roads that pass through towns and villages, as has happened in the Czech Republic. The group therefore wants the toll to be introduced on all roads without exception.
