Cities better than the EU?
The mayors of three European cities have committed their areas to going beyond EU environment targets on reducing greenhouse gases and promoting renewable energy.
Delft (NL), Grenoble (F) and Växjö (S) say they will cut CO2 emissions by 20% (1990-2020), make 20% energy savings, and work for for renewable energy to have an overall 20% share by 2020. The aim is to show how a local economy can thrive at the same time as cutting CO2.
