Active Transport
Schemes that encourage a shift from private car transport to walking and cycling are the most cost-efficient way to use transport funds, according to a report from the British initiative Sustrans.

Entitled “The Value of Investment in Active Travel”, it reviews evidence from around the world, and concludes that if cost/benefit analyses are allowed to include the benefits to health of physical exercise, the return on investment can be much higher than for typical car-based transport projects.
