EV market in Europe - main findings (Q2 2026)
In the second quarter (Q2 2026) of 2026, battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales reached record levels across Europe, with 19 out of 27 EU countries achieving their highest-ever quarterly BEV sales.
For the first time, in Q2 2026 quarterly sales of BEVs reached and slightly surpassed the sales of petrol cars in the EU. Battery electric vehicles in the EU had a market share of 22%.
Over the first half of 2026, the EU27 BEV share increased by three percentage points compared with 2025, rising from 17.4% to 20.7%.
