Lieven Hofmann

Lieven works as a Research and Data Analyst for T&E’s freight team. He analyses the EU’s progress in reducing CO₂ emission from transporting freight on roads, covering trucks, buses and coaches (HDVs). Before joining T&E in February 2026, Lieven worked at the ZOE Institute for Future-fit Economies in Brussels on industrial policy and strategic communications.

Lieven studied Philosophy & Economics at the University of Bayreuth before completing two Master degrees in Philosophy, Politics and Economics at the University of Groningen, and Ecological Economics at the University of Leeds. He speaks German, English, French and progresses on his Flemish.

In his spare time, Lieven enjoys going swimming, exploring new recipes, watching old-school DVDs, and hosting long brunches or dinners with friends.
