Thursday (17 May) the European Commission is expected to refer Germany, France, the UK, Italy, Hungary, and Romania to the European Court of Justice for their failure to tackle repeated breaches of EU air quality limits. It is also expected to take Germany, the UK, and Luxembourg to court for failing to take action against the VW group cars with illegal defeat devices
These cases refer to breaches by countries of the following laws:
EU 2035 reversal won't make carmakers great again
Extending the sales of combustion engines would divert investment from EVs while China races further ahead
Some car execs suggest a return to the combustion engine will restore Europe’s competitiveness. They couldn't be more wrong.
If the EU holds firm on the 2035 target, the European auto industry has a real chance to be competitive global EV players.
