Support for lorry and van limits

More than 80% of respondents to a Commission survey are in favour of reducing carbon dioxide emissions from heavy vehicles, and two thirds say it must be done through legislation and not left to voluntary measures.
[mailchimp_signup][/mailchimp_signup]The Commission’s climate department has published a summary of responses to last year’s ‘stakeholder consultation’ on reducing emissions from road transport, and they reveal widespread support for vehicle emissions targets beyond 2020. The Commission’s proposal for a 147 g/km limit for vans was supported by 63% of the 137 respondents to the consultation. There was also widespread support for reductions to apply to all heavy vehicles and not be limited to lorries or buses.
