The electric sports car maker Tesla Motors is taking legal action against the BBC because of a programme that faked a scene in which a Tesla car ran out of electricity during a race.
[mailchimp_signup][/mailchimp_signup]The BBC programme ‘Top Gear’ staged a race, but as a comedy feature it showed the Tesla Roadster running out of electricity, when in reality the car had never gone below 20% of its total charge. The legal action comes as the Commission has asked the governing body of Formula 1 motor racing to set up a racing championship series for electric cars, as a way of increasing public awareness and excitement about new-technology vehicles.
But the car lobby is demanding that the EU scrap rules that would better reflect PHEV pollution.
