• Planning law updated

The city of Zürich has updated its planning law to remove the obligation for builders of flats to provide car parking spaces.

[mailchimp_signup][/mailchimp_signup]Up to now, builders have had to provide a minimum number of parking spaces, even though the amount of households without a car is at nearly 50% in Swiss cities. The only condition for builders in Zürich is that they have to provide a ‘mobility concept for a car-free or low-car residential project’. Switzerland’s first residential complex to provide no parking spaces is nearing completion in the capital, Bern, but that was only given planning permission after the builders were able to show where parking spaces could be created if there proved to be a need for them.
