• Low emissions zone

London plans to operate the world’s largest “low emission zone”.

From February, a programme of emissions limits affecting lorries, coaches and buses will be introduced, extending by 2010 to vans, ambulances, minibuses, taxis and hearses. Despite the success of the city’s congestion charge, London still suffers some of the worst air pollution in Europe.
