  • Inventory of state aid for fossil fuels

The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has completed what is believed to be the first assessment of state support for fossil fuels.

[mailchimp_signup][/mailchimp_signup]Launched earlier this month, the inventory provides detailed information on more than 250 mechanisms – both budgetary support and tax exemptions – that support fossil fuel production and use in developed countries. The aim is to improve transparency and accountability, and help governments to reform the way they treat fossil fuels in a world where climate change is becoming more of a factor. The inventory covers 24 countries, accounting for around 95% of OECD’s energy supply, of which around 54% is petrol. The OECD hopes to keep the inventory updated.
