• Female cyclists want safer roads

A British cycling initiative says efforts to get more people onto bicycles may be failing because no-one allows for differences in feelings between men and women.

A poll of British women by ‘Sustrans’ shows there are more women than men who say they would be happy to cycle if only the roads were safer. The initiative says the biggest thing transport authorities could do would be to create more cycle lanes that are physically separated from motor vehicles.
