  • Cycle for health

Researchers have identified more evidence that climate-friend means of transport are good for health as well as the environment.

The medical journal The Lancet has published a series on health and climate change which says efforts to encourage walking and cycling will reduce carbon emissions and improve heart, breathing, mental health and cancer problems. An international research group says children who cycle regularly were found to have a much lower risk of heart disease compared with youngsters using other means of transport. And another study has found that children aged between eight and 13 who cycle regularly don’t cut out other physical activity, as is sometimes feared.
