A cry from Greece
The Greek Green MEP Michail Tremopoulos has written to all MEPs calling on them not to let transport sustainability in Greece become a casualty of the country’s financial rescue package.

Yet using private cars has become very expensive as household incomes have shrunk. ‘The Greek railways are dying for political rather than economic reasons,’ he says in his letter, adding ‘The railway is the backbone of a country – if broken, everything gets paralysed, including any prospect for sustainability in transport.’
