Clean transport NGO names new Executive Director

William joined the organisation in 2011 and, as climate and freight director, has led the campaign to regulate CO₂ emissions from trucks in Europe for the first time. The European Commission pledged to introduce truck CO₂ targets in its low-emission mobility strategy last year. He also campaigned successfully to get cleaner and safer trucks on European roads as well as for the 95 gramme CO₂ emissions target that new cars must achieve by 2021. A Belgian native, William started his career in Brussels working for an MEP, after which he joined Belgium’s EU presidency team to help negotiate the first CO₂ standards for vans.

Under William’s leadership, T&E will continue to promote, at EU and global level, policy that ensures cleaner, safer, smarter transport.  It will do so by researching, campaigning and where necessary exposing the real impact of transport on climate, health and environment. William takes up the position immediately.
