Aviation and shipping emissions included

Campaigners opposing airport expansion in England have been encouraged by the inclusion of aviation and shipping emissions in the British government's strategy for fighting climate change.

The government has legally committed to reducing the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by 2050 but wanted to exclude aviation and shipping. The fact that it has now included them has been seen as a sign that government support for a third runway at London’s Heathrow airport might be weakening.
