Parliament backs cycles on European trains

In a debate on the EU’s third railway package, MEPs inserted a clause at first reading which made it an obligation for international rail services to have facilities to carry bicycles. The Council of Ministers then rejected the clause, but last month it was put back in by MEPs at second reading.

If the clause makes it into the final legislation, it could have an implication for ferry services linking two member states.
