Biofuels – Green NGOs write to Environment Commissioner
In a letter sent today to European Commissioner for Environment Stavros Dimas, T&E and four other environmental groups call on the EU to commit to sustainable biofuel production.
[mailchimp_signup][/mailchimp_signup]The letter is a reponse to the publication of the European Commission’s Biomass Action Plan.
Biofuels could deliver significant environmental benefits and play a part in a comprehensive EU‐wide strategy to fight climate change. This potential will only be delivered, however, if the production of biofuels is sustainable in terms of its impact on biodiversity, water and soil, and if genuine emissions savings are made throughout the life‐cycle of a product.
