Consultation response: Greening Vehicle Excise Duty
Transport is the UK’s biggest single source of CO2, and approaching half of those emissions come from cars.
The government has announced its intention to end sales of cars with engines by 2035 at the latest. This briefing responds to the Treasury consultation on Vehicle Excise Duty, which is both extremely timely and generally makes good proposals that will move the market towards the purchase of more low and zero-emission vehicles.
