Six environmental activists accused of causing criminal damage at a coal-fired power station in Great Britain have been acquitted because their defence of preventing more greenhouse gases was accepted.

The six Greenpeace campaigners climbed a 200-metre chimney at the Kingsnorth power station, in an attempt to shut it down. In their defence they brought in Nasa scientist James Hansen who said building coal-fired power stations would not help the fight against climate change.
