Carlos Calvo Ambel

Senior Director, Non-Road and Analysis

European Union (Brussels)

Carlos joined T&E in 2015 after working at the European Commission's climate directorate and the Permanent Representation of Spain to the EU. He was previously employed as a climate change consultant, advising clients on the clean development mechanism, the EU emissions trading system and other carbon reduction programmes.

Currently he coordinates T&E’s work on non-road transport policy, covering energy, shipping, aviation and broader climate policy, including the Effort Sharing Regulation. He also oversees T&E's trends and analysis team, which ensures our quantitative analysis is of the highest standard.

Carlos studied environmental sciences in Seville and completed a masters degree in public administration at Columbia University. He speaks Spanish, English and Portuguese, and slowly but steadily he is taking the opportunity to learn French while living in Brussels. He loves outdoor activities, including climbing, gardening and swimming, although in Belgium he more often practices them indoors than he would in his native southern Spain.
