Carlos joined T&E in January 2015 after working at the European Commission's climate directorate and the Permanent Representation of Spain to the EU. He was previously employed as a climate change consultant, advising clients on the clean development mechanism, the EU emissions trading system and other carbon reduction programmes. Currently he leads the trends and analysis team in T&E, where he both coordinates the organisation’s analytical work and ensures its quantitative analysis is of the highest standard. He also coordinates T&E’s work on non-road transport policy, covering energy, shipping and aviation.
Carlos studied environmental sciences in Seville and completed a masters degree in public administration at Columbia University. He speaks Spanish, English and Portuguese, and is eagerly taking the opportunity to learn French while living in Brussels. He loves outdoor activities, including climbing and swimming, although in Belgium he more often practices them indoors than he would in his native southern Spain.
