MEPs want 2020 targets

The EU should impose a 20% reduction target for carbon dioxide emissions from the entire European transport sector by 2020, according to the European Parliament’s transport committee.

[mailchimp_signup][/mailchimp_signup]Responding to the Commission’s draft transport white paper that sets reduction targets up to 2050, the committee said the 2050 targets would only be met if a 20% target (based on 1990 levels) was imposed for road, rail and noise levels, and a 30% target for aviation and shipping. The Commission opposes interim targets.
