Having previously worked in the private sector and government, Faïg joined T&E in 2016. He holds a master's degree in international relations and a PhD on European energy politics from the University of Sheffield in the UK.

Faïg leads T&E's work on sustainable maritime transport, which includes carbon pricing for ships, sustainable alternative marine fuels, such as hydrogen and ammonia, as well as reducing the sector's impact on air pollution and marine ecosystems in the Arctic. Faïg is an amateur photographer, avid reader and astrophysics enthusiast. He loves indoor climbing, baking cakes and has a life goal of petting every dog he meets on the street! Faïg has dual Belgian and Azeri nationality and speaks English, French, Russian, Turkish and Azeri.
