Truck emissions are on the rise. Currently accounting for a quarter of road transport emissions, road freight emissions are forecast to continue increasing up to 2030. Meanwhile new truck fuel efficiency – and thus CO2 emissions – has stagnated since the mid-1990s. Europe currently does not have policies to reduce truck CO2 emissions. T&E campaigns for the introduction of mandatory CO2 limits for new trucks as is already the case for cars and vans in the EU and for trucks in the US, China and Japan. T&E also advocates a truck CO2 test procedure that is robust, transparent and easy to use for third parties.
