Passenger Rail

The European Commission wants rail to be the mode of choice for the majority of medium-distance passengers by 2050. The recently finalised 4th Railway Package will open the domestic passenger markets to competition post-2020. Member states will soon have to implement this legislation at national level. The 4th Railway Package aims to create an improved railway industry that provides better services for passengers and lower costs for railway companies.

T&E wants a customer-orientated railway sector where the passenger has the ability to easily purchase tickets and plan for a journey. We also want trains to be powered by electric traction and for such electricity to be sourced from sustainable energy.
