Social Media Officer

Transport & Environment (T&E) is hiring a talented Social Media Officer to support our advocacy and campaigning work online and take our social media game to the next level.

Location: Brussels, Belgium

Salary range: 3000-3300€ per month

About the role

Are you a creative digital native with a passion for the environment? Do you keep current with the latest social media trends and stories? If so, you might be our new Social Media Officer!

Alongside a multicultural team of motivated colleagues, your tasks will be to:

  • Coordinate and execute our social media strategy for community growth and engagement.
  • Write compelling copy and design visuals for social media channels.
  • Work with colleagues in Brussels and other European capitals to create and post innovative content across T&E’s social media channels.
  • Identify and engage with social influencers.
  • Lead on community management and run high profile social media campaigns, including reactive and proactive communications.
  • Use social media management and analytics tools to measure and track performance, develop insights and recommendations for optimisation, and contribute to reporting and analysis.
  • Advise T&E staff on social media tactics and best practices.
  • Explore emerging digital trends and tools.

Experience, skills and personal characteristics that we are looking for:

  • Two to three years experience in digital marketing for an agency, civil society, private sector, or media organisation.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing social media accounts
  • Demonstrable experience creating written and visual content for different channels, experience with video content is considered a plus.
  • Demonstrable experience of growing and maintaining a digital audience.
  • Highly creative with experience in identifying target audiences and opportunities for engagement.
  • Ability to tell a story with data, translating data into meaningful insights and actionable recommendations, as well as to effectively explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in social media
  • Adaptable and dynamic self starter, comfortable with taking initiative and brainstorming new ideas.
  • Native-level or very high proficiency in English is essential. Other European languages such as French, German, Spanish or Italian are considered a plus.

The position is full-time, based in Brussels, with the possibility of flexible working hours. T&E offers a competitive salary in line with experience and expertise and extensive benefits (such as extra healthcare, public transport support and 13th salary).
