T&E, Friends of the Earth Europe, Greenpeace European Unit and WWF Germany jointly commissioned this study to look into how the full potential of electric cars can be realised. The study aims to analyse the potential impact of the electrification of road transport on EU power production and to develop policy recommendations to ensure that this development will lead to the growth of renewable electricity in Europe. At issue is the future regulation of biofuels in Europe. The Commission is withholding time sensitive and critical environmental information necessary for meaningful public participation in biofuel policy-making. In the process, it is setting a dangerous precedent that European Union (EU) institutions may delay the release of documents until after a policy decision has been made, striking at the heart of democracy. With this case, ClientEarth, Transport & Environment, European Environmental Bureau, and BirdLife International seek to uphold their rights to access Commission documents.
