The Directive 2003/59/EC, on training for professional drivers entered into force on 10 September. On 23 July, the European Commission adopted a communication on the revision of the Eurovignette Directive. The new proposal, long awaited by NGOs and other stakeholders, is a disappointment. T&E has called for its rejection by the European Parliament and the Council. It confuses the concepts of pricing and financing, does not encourage sustainable transport and, overall, is insufficient and unambitious in scope.
