Nico joined T&E in October 2012 from global PR firm, Weber Shandwick (WS), where he worked as senior communications specialist in EU politics of climate change. Back in 2009, he helped launch the Opel Ampera in Europe with the active engagement of citizen journalists (also known as bloggers). As head of the CleanTech practice at WS Brussels, Nico led the team that mounted an aggressive business-to-business (B2B) campaign across Europe called 'The Future is Turbocharged' to promote turbochargers as clean auto tech. The campaign won the 2011 Stevies Awards in the category of Best B2B Marketing Communications. Nico has co-directed the award-winning documentary Frontera Invisible to tell the story of violence and environmental devastation behind the spectacular expansion of palm oil for biodiesel in Colombia.
His encounter with the comms profession was love at first sight. Before that, Nico trained in Sociology (BA Hons) in Britain and Spain and International Political Economy (MA Hons) in Belgium. Fiery and feisty, Argie Nico leads the T&E comms team in a structured blend of English, Spanish, French and Italian. The team is responsible for all T&E's external and internal communications, including media relations, messaging, campaign tactics, art work and digital engagement. He loves cooking as an active therapy for disconnecting from work; friendship and family are his altars; and he gets stuck into chats (over Belgian beer or prosecco) about the unbearable lightness of being.
