Ángel Aparicio is a civil engineer specialised in transport planning and policy. He worked at the Spanish ministries of transport and environment for over 20 years, at the United Nations for two years and, since 2009, has been professor of transport planning at the Technical University of Madrid, Spain. His main areas of recent activity have been: transport governance, participation and decision-making; urban transport in developing countries; and adaptation of transport to climate change.
He joined the board of Transport & Environment in 2012 as an independent member. He holds a PhD degree in civil engineering, with a dissertation on metropolitan transport planning, and a MA degree in philosophy with a dissertation on planning ethics.
