• Money for rail

The Commission should give at least 40% of transport infrastructure funding to rail projects in order to boost railfreight, says the European Parliament’s transport committee.

MEPs said Brussels should concentrate EU co-funding on improving the efficiency and interoperability of rail infrastructure, so rail freight can play its full role in reducing transport emissions and accidents. The suggestion came from the committee approving an ‘own-initiative’ report by the German MEP Michael Cramer.
