Sustainable shipping and freight officer - France

Do you have ideas on how goods could be transported more sustainably in Europe and France? Are you interested in exploring how we make ships, trucks and vans cleaner and more efficient? And how we might increase the public interest for seaborne and road transport pollution? Do you have an interest in policy with an understanding of EU policy-making and politics, a genuine passion for the environment, and a desire to learn about freight? If you want to help explore these questions, and turn your ideas into reality, this may well be the job for you. We are looking for a shipping and trucks officer in France to help decarbonise the maritime and road freight transport.

The role covers, among others, work on the ongoing and forthcoming regional EU and national French regulations for shipping and trucks. You will join our office in Paris, France  and work with T&E’s Shipping and Freight in Brussels in coordination with our Director in the French office.

  • The policy officer will be expected to work independently in France but under the guidance of T&E’s shipping and freight teams, and in coordination with the Director France, aiming to achieve T&E’s shipping and freight programme strategies. The split between shipping and freight will be 60:40.
  • Lead the work on building formal and informal coalitions with key maritime and freight industry players such as shipowners, truck manufacturers, cargo owner, ports, as well as leading technology providers;
  • Building and maintaining good contact with (national) policy-makers, researchers and our network working in this field;
