Kindly hosted by MEP Ismail Ertug, this event focuses on the importance of charging road users to reduce CO2 emissions. The necessary expansion of the toll to account for the CO2 performance of trucks, combined with the expansion of the toll to include both cars and vans, are all tools to promote clean mobility. Furthermore, tolls can be a means for member states to secure revenue for the public budget to compensate for an inevitable decline in fuel tax revenue that will go hand-in-hand with reducing oil use in transport.
