Airlines ‘in denial’
A senior official from the Commission’s air transport unit has told an aviation conference that airlines are in denial over their environmental responsibilities.
Peter Bombay told a meeting of low-fares airlines that the European aviation sector had to make a success of the EU’s Emissions Trading Scheme and work with the Commission on reducing emissions from aviation. Bombay told the airlines to ‘take a more proactive, realistic and more focused approach to the debate’.
